A wacky world pays off
I’m Susan, creator of CardsReallyCount, LLC and a former art director from the wacky world of advertising—where they pay you just to sit around and be clever!
Sitt’n around, being clever
One day, I was sitt’n around with my good friend Wendy, who was talking about our culture’s lack of social interactions. Along the way to becoming techno wizards, I guess we lost a wee bit of personal connection and warmth.
Wendy’s very proper mother always told her, “Good manners & etiquette were never meant to intimidate people but rather to make them comfortable and at ease.” (Wendy’s mom has an East Coast pedigree dating back to the Mayflower. —So she must be right, right?)
I suspect Wendy and her well-pedigreed clan are on to something! Who hasn’t fired off a quick birthday text to Aunt Sylvia instead of spending quality time with her? Admit it, guys. We need to rethink this one. How can we still communicate gratitude to all those important people in our lives—without eating up all our personal space?? The answer? CARDS, CARDS, AND MORE CARDS!
Trend worthy
I know what you are thinking…cards are soooo old school. But did you know?… Millennials & Generation Z’s are getting all jazzed up about greeting cards—BIG TIME!!!
So, pick out some cards and give those special people something they’ll want to tape to the refrigerator door. Send out some nasty humor to make them snicker. Tap into your softhearted side with some sentimental syrup. Or, hey, why not channel some meaningful spiritual inspiration.
And don’t be afraid to scribble down a few lines in your card—even if you write like a kid with a crayon—YOUR HANDWRITING HAS OODLES OF CHARM! Miss the spellcheck? Get over it. A few clever words and a lick on the envelope is all it takes.
Think outside the mailbox.
Sure, you can go to the post office, buy a stamp, and drop a card in the mailbox.
But why? Useful tips:
• Stick a card on their windshield
• Tuck one into their lunch box
• Tape it to their phone
• Shove it into their gym bag
• Or…just hand it to them!
Then, sit back and enjoy all the text messages that’ll come right back at ya!
Wendy’s mom would be so proud of you. Because people really count!
